In January 2024, the KIBA 2024, Korea International Beer Award, has commenced participant registration amid high expectations.
KIBA, the first commercial beer international competition in Korea, is marking its third edition this year, aiming to showcase the excellence and potential of Korean beer internationally, and enhance the competitiveness of the global beer industry.
This year, over 50 distinguished judges from 16 countries have been invited to evaluate a variety of beers from around the world, including those from Korea. KIBA is perceived as the optimal opportunity for domestic breweries, which have faced challenges participating in renowned international beer competitions due to logistical issues, to overcome difficulties and present their beers on the global stage.
The judges for KIBA 2024 will assess the balance, drinkability, and overall harmony of beers based on 110 beer style guidelines. Medals (gold, silver, and bronze) will be awarded in different categories. It is anticipated that such accolades will boost brand awareness and consumer purchasing power for participating breweries, ultimately contributing to the enhancement and growth of the brewing industry.

The organizers anticipate around 500 beers from approximately 14 countries to be submitted to KIBA 2024. These beers will undergo rigorous and fair evaluations over the two days, April 10th and 11th, at COEX. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 12th at the main stage of KIBEX (Korea International Beer Expo).
The registration deadline for breweries and beers is February 29th, but the KIBA 2024 organizing committee encourages breweries to register well before the deadline. They emphasize the importance of allowing sufficient time for registration.
Korea International Beer Awards KIBA 2024 is gradually establishing itself as a significant international beer competition that elevates the global competitiveness of Korean beer and promotes cultural exchange in the world of beer.
